HUNGER….

RIGHT HERE IN NEW YORK CITY

Sadly, in the greatest city in the world, people still go hungry.

  • One in six New York City residents – over 1.4 million people are “food insecure.”

  • Nearly one in four children in New York City are food insecure

  • One in 10 New York City seniors are food insecure.

  • As a direct result of major cuts in SNAP funding (food stamps), every soup kitchen has seen increases in the number of guests. And that includes FRIDAY SOUP KITCHEN. We have seen a nearly 18% increase in the number of guests each week who need our help.
